In 1900, he was elected Vice President of the United States under President William McKinley. McKinley was assassinated in 1901, and Roosevelt became President of the United States at the age of 42. Roosevelt served as President of the United States for two terms, from 1901 to 1909. During his presidency, he oversaw a number of important reforms, including the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act, the Meat Inspection Act, and the National Reclamation Act. He also established the National Park Service, and he set aside millions of acres of land for conservation. Roosevelt was a popular and successful president, and he is considered to be one of the greatest presidents in American history. He was a strong leader who was dedicated to public service, and he left a lasting legacy on the United States. After leaving office, Roosevelt continued to be active in politics and public life.
