Vagharshapat (; formerly Ejmiatsin), is a city in Armenia and the capital of Armavir Province. Located in the Ararat plain, it is 12 km (7.5 mi) east of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. History

Vagarshapat was founded in the 1st century AD by King Vagharshak I, who named it after himself.
